ABOUT: Long before the formation of the studio, the work began through a quiet fascination with the emotional life of environments and the psychological weight carried by space itself.

Aya Taha’s practice exists at the intersection of spatial design, curatorial research, and psychological inquiry. Drawing upon studies in art history and psychology, alongside more than a decade of experience in real estate development, her work investigates the ways in which environments influence perception, behaviour, and emotional experience. Emerging from a longstanding observation of the relationship between people and the spaces they inhabit, the practice considers light, materiality, atmosphere, spatial rhythm, and contemporary art as active participants in human experience rather than passive architectural elements. While early work moved between residential and commercial environments, this inquiry gradually evolved toward healthcare and wellness settings, where questions of vulnerability, restoration, and care become particularly visible.
Central to Aya’s approach is the belief that art possesses a unique capacity to shape how environments are perceived, experienced, and remembered. Informed by both art historical scholarship and psychological theory, her work explores the relationship between visual culture, spatial design, and wellbeing, drawing upon principles often associated with art therapy, environmental psychology, and curatorial practice. Rather than treating art as decoration, it is approached as an integral component of the spatial experience itself—working alongside architecture, light, and atmosphere to create environments that support comfort, reflection, dignity, and human connection. At its core lies a simple proposition: that the spaces in which we live, heal, work, and gather are never neutral, but participate continuously in the formation of human experience.
